Re-Reading your Favourite Book

There is something so special about your favourite book. Its close to your heart for a reason. Its personal. Most people find solitude in books, its an escape from their average life - a chance to see, be and feel something different. Your favourite book is mostly likely your favourite because you can relate to it emotionally, it gave you advice or maybe just because it encouraged or inspired you to be a better friend, mother, father, sister, student etc....My favourite book is the infamous 'The Catcher in The Rye.' The morbid themes of mortality, suicide, mental illness, lies, sadness and isolation brought to my attention how harsh, disgusting and unforgiving the adult world is. However, the book also details beautiful themes such a love (which Holden holds for his younger sister Phoebe) compassion (Holden's fear for the ducks who live in the Lake in Central Park during winter) and independence (Holden's ability and bravery to face the bitter/grim world he so beautifully describes) Finding 10 minutes in your day to curl up with a coffee and re- read your favourite sections/quotes is a special, comforting way to brighten your day.

Always,
A
